Veterans First Point Conference 21 April 2010
"Understanding and Meeting the Needs of Veterans"
Veterans First Point had been open for one year on 23rd
April 2010. Since opening, a great deal had been learned
about the issues that many veterans face and the support they need
to address them.
V1P hosted a conference in Central Edinburgh on 21 April
2010 to present some findings and also to hear two of the foremost
experts in trauma and working with veterans deliver their current
thinking and best working practices.
The Keynote speakers were Professor Mark Creamer PhD CITRM,
Director of the Australian Centre for Post-traumatic Mental Health
and Professor Ian Palmer MB ChB MRCPsych, Director of the Medical
Assessment Programme (MAP), London.
The conference was aimed at the following audience:

Charities and 3rd sector organisations
Veterans and their families

and anyone with an interest in working with veterans.
The conference was well received with more than 120
representatives from service providers and service users
attending.
