Wrong side of the law?

If you find yourself on the wrong side of the law and in custody, the police are duty bound to explain what is happening to you.  If in doubt, ask them to explain what is going on and why they have taken you into custody.

Your most important action is to get legal representation at the soonest opportunity.  Unless you know of a solicitor or already have legal representation, it is your right to request to see the Duty Solicitor.

You are also entitled to make a phone call so your best course of action is to phone someone who is able to arrange for your legal representation.

If you are charged, the charging officer will again explain what this means and what will happen next.
