We can all find ourselves in a situation that may require us to
seek legal advice. This could be for a house sale, a car
accident, an employment issue, childcare issues, divorce
or bereavement.
You may have been the victim of crime or maybe you have
committed one.
The prospect of needing legal support can be daunting, with
possible thoughts of affordability, lack of knowledge of the legal
system and actually being in court all adding to the worry.
At Veterans First Point, we want to help you or your family find
the right legal support for whatever problem you might be
facing. Knowing what kind of advice is required depends on
the circumstances and our recommendation is to put you in touch
with an Advice Officer. We have one that vists the Centre
twice a month so please contact us for a
private appointment.
The two places we would recommend are Citizens Advice Bureau
(www.citizensadvice.org.uk)
on 0131 557 1500 and the Scottish Legal Aid Board (www.slab.org.uk) on 0845 122
8686.
Other points of contact include:
Scottish Law Society (www.scottishlawsociety.co.uk)
Scottish Child Law Centre (www.sclc.org.uk) on 0131 667 6333
Mental Health Legal Representation Project (www.lsa.org.uk) on 0131 228 9993
Child Support Agency (www.csa.gov.uk)
These are just some of the contacts that are available to assist
you in your search for legal assistance. Should you feel you
need additional information or support in contacting them,
Veterans' First Point are available to help make that appointment
and, if necessary, accompany you to the meeting.
We can also assist you in putting together some of the questions
that you may wish to ask. Alternatively, you can search on
line for specific law firms in your area or use the telephone
directory.
